SUMMARY Anne McMurray is an independent organisational development consultant, specialising in leadership and team development, strategy formulation and change implementation. She combines a focus on the people side of organisations with the realities of sustaining performance in a complex and changing world. She draws on career experience which has included youth and community work, family therapy, health and social service senior management and organisational development consultancy through Ireland, GB, Europe and Canada since 1989. Anne is an associate trainer with the Centre for Creative Leadership in Brussels and is a registered consultant with Cognitive Edge, a knowledge network specialising in working with complex organisational systems. Anne’s client base is north and south of Ireland as well as England. In a voluntary capacity Anne is chair of east Belfast economic and social regeneration partnership in Belfast and Mexico Child Link Trust. Anne was awarded the MBE in the 2008 New Year Honours List for her work with women in enterprise in Northern Ireland. WORK WITH WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP Anne has worked with women to develop their leadership in business and management careers through a number of programmes since the 1990s. EXPERIENCE - Designed and delivered the Pathclearing and Pathbreaking programmes for Invest NI. Pathclearing Programme increased the integration of the Northern Ireland business support system at a local level to provide more seamless support and advice to women entrepreneurs. The Pathbreaking Programme helped 36 women to use innovation grow their businesses and 200 women to develop a business idea; the Idea Workshop for Women has been disseminated through a trainer network as a model workshop throughout Northern Ireland in 2008 (2006-2008).
- Worked with the PSNI Equality Unit in the development of the Diversity strategy (2007).
- Ran the Women in Leadership workshop at the all-Ireland Women in Policing conference in May 2007.
- Delivered a successful leadership development programme for female Belfast City Council elected members and senior officers (2007); this was written up as a case study and published in the GB local government IDEA bulletin Spring 2008 as an example of best practice.
- Consultant to Enterprise Northern Ireland on the evaluation report of the WRAISE programme, European funded programme and presentation of results at closing conference (2007)
- Provided career planning workshops for 200 women in local government throughout Northern Ireland as preparation for Reform of Public Administration (2006-2007)
- Executive mentor, role consultant and coach for senior women leaders in the private, public and NGO sectors in Ireland north and south (2000 – present).
- Strategic consultant to Invest NI to increase women starting up or developing their own businesses. This involved consultation and strategy development; establishment of a stakeholder and policy forum; increasing the connectedness of the local systems of support; development of the Gender Lens for Business Support delivered in Northern Ireland, Ireland and England (2001 – present).
- Commissioned by Derry and Donegal councils to undertake research and prepare strategic recommendations on the employment access and barriers to career and promotion for women (2004-2005)
- Design and delivery of Making the Most of Difference a women’s’ business leadership programme targeted at women in middle management in the private sector which won a National Training Award in 1998 (1997-2003).
TEAM DEVELOPMENT Anne specialises in designing and facilitating team development processes to address issues such as cross-functional working, geographically dispersed teams, new team formation, conflict resolution in teams, problem solving and vision building.
